Dr Chuck Bailey, Head of the Centre for Rare Diseases & Gene Therapy at the Centenary Institute, was recently interviewed by 2GB host Bill Woods.
In the interview Dr Bailey highlighted the vital role of medical research in society and discussed the impact of rare diseases, which affect around 2 million Australians.
“Our research is all about understanding how genes function to help develop treatments for rare heart, blood, and cancer diseases. Ultimately, we want to improve diagnoses, find new drugs and advance personalised care to make a real difference to the lives of patients,” said Dr Bailey.
