Associate Professor Patrick Bertolino, Head of the Centre for Infection & Immunity at the Centenary Institute, has discussed his recent study into better understanding the body’s immune system and how it fights off infections in the liver.
In his interview on the 2GB Healthy Living program, he explained how various T cells collaborate to boost the liver’s immune response, providing valuable insights into the liver’s defence mechanisms against infections and disease.
“Our findings pave the way for more targeted and effective therapies to address liver diseases such as viral hepatitis and fatty liver disease, while also reducing the risk of liver transplant rejection,” said Associate Professor Bertolino.
