Football tournament to raise vital funds for sudden cardiac death
For the past four years, the University of Canberra Stars Football Club has raised vital funds for the Centenary Institute in honour of Aaiden Bellingham, who was tragically lost in 2017.
Now, they’re back for 2022 with the launch of the annual Bellingham Cup. The annual pre-season tournament focuses on bringing the club together to celebrate its sense of community that extends beyond each team.
Aaiden Bellingham was a much loved young man and member of the Stars Football Club who was sadly taken from his family and friends as a result of a sudden cardiac episode. The Cup provides an invaluable way to spread the word about the importance of medical research in the area of sudden cardiac death in the young and to raise vital funds for the Agnes Ginges Centre for Molecular Cardiology at the Centenary Institute.
“The response and support we have received for the Bellingham Cup has been phenomenal,” said Aaiden’s father Adrian Bellingham. “This year we are launching the Cup earlier in March with a range of fundraising activities throughout the month to promote the importance of medical research.”
The 2022 Bellingham Cup will be held on Saturday, 26 March 2022. For more information and to donate to the Centenary Institute visit the tournament’s Facebook page.
